In March 2022, Prof. Dr. Abdel-Khaleq Al-Farra, President of Israa University, met with His Excellency the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas "Abu Mazen", at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, in order to brief  him on the stages of preparing the medical city.

During the important meeting, the President of the University presented to His Excellency a presentation that includes all stages of preparing the medical city as one of the national projects; as a non-profit medical institution that is the first of its kind in the Gaza Strip.  Professor Dr. Al-Farra  also explained the percentage of completion of the university hospital project, pointing out that this national project “comes in the context of providing a quality health service to our people in the southern governorates, and within the university’s endeavors to adopt the vision of the Palestinian leadership in settling the health service”.

For his part, the President Mahmoud Abbas praised the efforts made to build and equip the medical city, stressing that the education and health issues are among the priorities of the Palestinian leadership. In addition, he expressed his unlimited support for these efforts by overcoming all obstacles to its achievement.

At the end of the meeting, the President of the University expressed his profound thanks to His Excellency the President Mahmoud Abbas for his interest in the educational process in Palestine, praising the Palestinian leadership’s keenness to improve the education and health sectors, and to provide all support and assistance to everything that aims to build the State of Palestine with its capital, Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
