On the International Day of People with Disabilities, Israa University celebrated the disabled in support of its students with disabilities and to review their progress in the scientific and educational fields in the conference hall at the university’s main campus in Al-Zahra City.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the University, Prof. Abdel-Khaleq Al-Farra, the Vice-President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hassaina, the Director of the Projects and International Cooperation Department at the University, Mr. Basil Nasser, the Director of the National Foundation for Economic Empowerment, Dr. Hatem Al-Ashaal, and a group of deaf and dumb students and university employees .

Prof. Dr. Al-Farra welcomed the attendees and guests, stressing that this day is a reflection of the will to think, learn and overcome the difficulties for the disabled among our Palestinian people, who sacrificed and are still sacrificing in order to achieve what they in aspire to.

In addition, Pro. Al-Farra said, "We are proud of you, generation, as we are proud of our Palestinian people who have made the impossible despite the sufferings and siege".  He indicated that the university is looking forward to working with the National Foundation for Economic Empowerment to hold future partnerships to serve our Palestinian people.

For his part, Dr. Al-Ashal thanked Israa University for holding this ceremony, pointing out that the university represented a model with its effectiveness, ability and understanding of the university’s message;  the university has a message  that is higher than graduating students only, being an integral part of the nation.

He added, "On the Day of People with disabilities, Israa University took the initiative to hold this ceremony, to celebrate our intelligent, creative students, who have proven that they are distinguished and serious students."

He continued, "This ceremony is to renew the covenants and commitments  between national and political institutions with you  to bring you’re the national and international rights, and to be effective members  in society. We at the National Foundation for Economic Empowerment from the first day we started, you are present in our plans and at the top of our business priorities, we work with you and for you."

He also mentioned that next year the Foundation will work on a series of investment economic empowerment projects, calling on students with disabilities  who have ideas for pioneering investment projects to submit them to the Foundation for study and funding with a full grant.
