On Sunday, November 22, 2021, a delegation from Israa University met the Director of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip, Miriam Miller, to congratulate her on the new position, and to discuss means of joint cooperation.

The university delegation consisted of Dr. Ahmed Al-Hasainah, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Alaa Matar, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor Basil Naser, Director of Projects and International Cooperation Depatment at the University. They were received by the counsellor to the director of the ICRC, Mr. Fayez Al-Aqra', and the Director of Media and Publication Department, Mr. Youssef Al-Yazji.

The delegation thanked the ICRC for the important role that it plays in serving the rights of the Palestinian people and Palestinian captives; in addition to its role in protecting civilian victims during the continuing Israeli attacks against the Gaza Strip.

The delegation got the Director of the Red Cross acquainted with Israa University, its facilities, specializations, and Israa Medical City project, in addition to the most prominent activities, events and workshops organized by the university in the field of International Humanitarian Law and international Law for Human Rights.

The delegation discussed means of joint cooperation with the ICRC, especially for the development of courses and training courses for students in the field of International Humanitarian Law, in particular, students of the Faculty of Law.

For her part, the Director of the ICRC welcomed the visit of the university delegation, emphasizing the importance of increasing means of cooperation and joint work between the Red Cross and academic institutions.
